uh, that’s how technology works. when a new something comes out, the old ones go down in price.

also, that’s the price for NEW customers only, not for existing contracts.

They lie. Its 50 and then you add 25 for data 30 for min another 25 for text…its really stupid. 

They’re talking about the price for the phone (not the contract).  While it used to be $199 for the 3GS, it’s not $50.  The only issue here is this locks that person into a 2-year contract with that phone (and no upgrades until just before the end of that two year period).  The problem with that being that the 5th iPhone (iPhone 5?) will come out this summer and anyone who gets the 3GS for $50 will be two phones behind the current release.  Apps (games and otherwise) tend to target the newer hardware more than the older hardware, meaning the older the phone you have, the slower things run.  

So, if they’re bragging that they’re getting a two year old phone now for a cheaper price than it launched with, know that everyone else will be bragging when they cannot do OS updates or find usable apps.  Technology!
